DAWSON'S ANVIL finished an eye-catching 2nd, albeit at a lower level, over 1450m on his reappearance as a gelding and is open to any amount of improvement over this extended trip so it could pay to follow his progress. BEST CANDIDATE has thrived since he was gelded, winning 4 of 6 starts, but must defy another 5-point penalty and overcome the widest draw to complete the hat-trick. Hard-knockers KUDZU and BATTLEGROUND are better off at the weights with that rival so can't be underestimated. DOCTOR STRANGELOVE is up in class but is progressive and carrying 50kg so has to be included in Pick 6 bets.
